The referee can decide to give a team a penalty shot or a time penalty.
- Penalty shot: A penalty shot is taken seven metres from the goal. The spot where the penalty must be taken from is marked on the ground with tape. All other players will have to get to their respective switching areas. The shot needs to be hit and not pushed. After the penalty shot the game continues with a face-off.
- Time penalty: two- and two+two-minute penalties can be given, depending on the foul. (let's hope the latter is never needed...)
